Court
says driving course builder needs local permit
TAMWORTH,
N.H. (AP) - Opponents of a driving course on the side of Mount Whittier
in Tamworth (New Hampshire) are hailing a state Supreme Court ruling as
a victory for local control.
The
court has ruled that developer Club Motorsports must earn a local
wetlands permit before breaking ground on its project. The ruling came
even though the developer has gotten state and federal approvals.
Club
Motorsports had complained local officials were biased against its
project.
On
June 27th, the developer returns to Tamworth to present tuned-down plans
to pave a road to its 251 mountainside acres.
