State
representatives Harry Merrow and David Babson introduced House
Bill 90, a bill to repeal SB 458 (now RSA 287-G), the legislation
that exempted Club Motorsports Inc. (CMI) from regulation by the
Tamworth Race Track Ordinance (RTO). If HB 90 passes, CMI will be
regulated by the RTO, which limits noise, hours of operation, petroleum
handling and other aspects of their proposed racetrack. Here
is some background on HB 90 and RSA 287-G. HB 90 passed the House on
April 6 with an amendment, and now goes before the Senate.
To
insure that HB 90 passes, we need your help NOW, as the bill will be
heard by the Transportation and Interstate Cooperation committee of the
Senate on April 20, and will come to
Senate floor for a vote very soon afterward.
Please
come to the hearing on the 20th if you can. It will be in the
Legislative Office Building in Concord in Room 101 at about 9:20 AM.
Hearings on other bills begin at 8:15 AM, so come early to get a seat. |

If
you vote anywhere in New Hampshire, please contact your
own Senator personally BEFORE
April 20 and ask him
or her to help. If you know other people who live and vote in New
Hampshire, ask them to contact their Senators too.
Here's
what you should ask your rep to do:
Support
HB 90 as amended when it comes to the floor of the Senate. Even as
amended, HB 90 restores local control and brings the issue of regulation
of racetracks and similar facilities back to the town level where it
should be.
If
your Senator has questions about the bill or the situation in Tamworth
that you can't answer, please e-mail focus@focustamworth.org
and we will get you the answers.
