Tamworth, October 27, 2004 - Focus Tamworth learned today that the NH Wetlands Council has accepted its appeal of the Department of Environmental Services Dredge & Fill permit issued to Club Motorsports Inc (CMI). CMI is seeking permits to construct a private racetrack for fast cars and motorcycles on Mt. Whittier in Tamworth. Acceptance of the appeal means that the Wetlands Council has agreed to hold a public hearing to consider Focus Tamworth's reasons for opposing the issuing of the permit. After the hearing, the Council will rule on whether or not the DES decision was "unlawful or unreasonable."

The Council's notification to Focus Tamworth indicated that a pre-hearing conference would be scheduled in the "near future," with a public hearing to be scheduled after that.

The letter was sent by Michael Scalafani, appeals clerk for the Wetlands Council.
